D.C. Discovery Weekend

D.C. Discovery Weekend allows students who wish to explore multiple Episcopal Summer Institute programs to stay on campus between sessions and enjoy all the fun and excitement that Washington, D.C. has to offer. Activities may include field trips to museums, local parks, recreation facilities, sporting events and performances, as well as time to relax on campus and take advantage of Episcopal High School's world class facilities.

Kathleen Caslow

Kathleen Caslow

Math & Science

Kathleen brings her passion for academics and making connections with her students to her tenure with the Episcopal Summer Institute. During the school year, she works to engage young learners to become partners in the process, so they understand the value of how the topics build into life experiences. She serves as a "rover" administrator in the residential community and has previously worked for George Washington University and the National Institutes of Health, where she conducted AIDS and cancer research.

Arts

Developed to both excite new photographers and encourage students who are looking to expand their skills through hands-on experience. Students will explore the fundamentals of digital and documentary photography.

Designed for students with a passion for the stage, this Creative Lab focuses on rehearsing and performing a final musical theater showcase at Episcopal’s Ainslie Arts Center Black Box Theater.

The camp not only explores the principles and fundamentals that make up the "Central Dogma of Molecular Biology," it also leverages hands-on experimentation and access to the cutting-edge technology and gadgets of many of today's most advanced biological research into an ongoing passion for the field.

Students get a taste of boarding school life and learn from local entrepreneurs, technologists, scientists, government officials, and artists. We also visit the city's must-see sights, including the Washington Monument, the Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lincoln memorials.
